About Your GO REMOTE Escort
STEVE CUSHMAN

Steve Cushman actually grew up near Pond Creek and Boogerville ... that's some distance northwest of Monkey's Eyebrow.

At age 18 he joined the U.S. Army as a Private, Infantry. Following his selection and graduation from Officer Candidate School, he commanded a rifle company of the First Infantry Division in Vietnam at the age of 23.

This was his first serious Adventure experience.

During his military career he was trained in numerous REMOTE "outdoor" and "adventure" courses, including Jungle Survival/Escape and Evasion in Panama. While assigned to central Alaska he completed the Arctic Infantry Training Course ( at temperatures to 60 below), climbing school, Riverine (raft) training (ran several Alaskan whitewater rivers on leave/personal Adventures).

During his assignment to the Saudi Arabian desert, years prior to the Gulf War, he was posted 1,350 miles from the nearest traffic light in The Kingdom. Steve drove 4WD vehicles to REMOTE Bedouin camps and to REMOTE desert remains of Lawrence of Arabia Railroad Stations for recreation. He accompanied French Army Commandos in diving the Red Sea.

Upon return to the States, he raced the Outlaw Stock Car Circuit in West Texas and New Mexico, driving the "Shiftkicker" for the Champion Boot Company. He was later selected by the R. J. Reynolds Co. to compete in the international Camel Trophy off road series with events in California and Europe. The nationally competitive selection as a driver came after driving test runs, psych tests, and taped interviews . . . never knowing whether they sought the most or the least crazy driver.

During his assignment to the West Texas desert, he backpacked major areas of the Gila Wilderness and ran numerous rivers, including Big Bend's Santa Elena Canyon on the Rio Grande.

More recently Steve has gained experience in the wilds of Papua New Guinea: SCUBA diving the Remote North Coast - later serving as the logistics coordinator and guide for a team of multinational scientific experts following the deadly New Guinea Tsunami that killed almost 2,000 people. In addition he has located a Remote, crashed American WWII fighter aircraft for the relative of the pilot. These New Guinea experiences compliment his current MIA and B-25 bomber effort.

Steve accepted the NASA "buy out" at Marshall Space Flight Center in December of 2011 in order to plan and support Go Remote Adventures full time including historic research on W.W. II aircraft losses. He holds a M..A. degree. He is a former military map reading and navigation instructor. Steve is also an experienced SCUBA diver and an underwater photographer. He is trained in CPR, First Aid and Lifesaving (swimming) and the Swift Water Rescue course. His recent passions, aside from Adventure travel, are paddling , kayak and raft, power boating and kamikaze slalom skiing and ...surfing . . . . . .the Internet.

In all, Steve has lived in, crossed borders of, backpacked through, hopped old trains of, enjoyed and adventured in more than 30 countries ranging from North Yeman to Papua New Guinea and from Ireland to Guatemala. His most recent Adventures have been W.W.II wreck diving in the Wilds of Papua New Guinea and backpacking to Mayan Ruins of Central America.
