Are the Adventures safe?

-Not Exactly- We don't call it adventure travel for nothing. Every effort is made to assure your safety and to use our travel experience, prior scouting trips, and local guides to evaluate and minimize the risk associated with both the area and the activity. Most of the risk is associated with conditions in undeveloped, REMOTE, areas and/or activities.

IT IS an Adventure because it has some risk. GO REMOTE will require your review and signature on a limitation of liability form prior to departure. Most of all, GO REMOTE will make every effort to assure you are made aware of the Adventure environment to assist your selection of an Adventure that matches your interest and ability and ... to assist in reduction of "unknowns" during the Adventure you choose.


What do you mean by "Adventure"?

-Adventurous implies willingness to accept risks but not necessarily imprudence, - says Webster's Dictionary. -Unknown- is also a word that appears frequently in the definition. GO REMOTE Adventures go beyond the safeties of mass tourism areas - i.e., the ruins may not be marked, or marred, by warning signs --- Danger --- 100 ft drop --- a guard rail may not be present. On the SCUBA, snorkel or paddle Adventures, there may not be a Coast Guard response boat or equivalent within hours or days. You may encounter a hammerhead shark when you did not expect one. Your raft may not slide through the slot with everyone seated and smiling happily.

Will backpacking or tenting be required?

No, Adventures take advantage of local lodging and showers - although it usually will Not be a tourist resort. Some resorts may be used on entry or exit to the REMOTE areas. General itineraries identify any special gear needs or nights away from a lodge, if any. Most outings/activities are day trips from a comfortable, but REMOTE, base.

Are special menus available?

No, but every effort is made to assure only orgasmic food is served. ;-) Organic food may lack chemical nutrients. GO REMOTE studies indicate that travelers who are unwilling to vary their diet are not adventurous. ;-)

What does the GO REMOTE application require?

The application primarily requires a statement concerning your health, a statement concerning your past physical exam, whether you have had one in the past 2 years, and past travel experience. Some other personal background information is requested to assure small group compatibility. All information is for the sole use of GO REMOTE, and it is not sold nor shared. Most Adventures do not require special skills unless they are specifically noted in the Adventure itinerary and your application. GO REMOTE assures you are fully advised of the planned Adventure activities.

Does GO REMOTE travel to Europe, the former Eastern block or Africa?

NO, The focus of GO REMOTE is on the hot or warm climates of the Americas and the Pacific, as well as a REMOTE domestic whitewater run or two.
Can I take my children?

Sure, as long as they are eighteen or older and otherwise qualified ... We also attempt Not to take adults who act like children. : )

What does the cost of the Adventure include?

Each Adventure is normally priced to include round trip airfare from a designated US departure point (i.e., New Orleans), ground/air/rail/river transport in the destination area, all lodging - Some designated meals and activities are also included depending on the Adventure location. The Adventure itinerary identifies what items are included when the specific Adventure cost is established (vs. estimated cost posted on the net page) normally at least one month prior to departure. Any known additional costs - to be paid individually - are also noted (i.e., airport departure taxes, average meal costs, extra dive costs, etc.)

Can I apply my frequent flyer miles and get the Adventure cost adjusted?

Sure - so long as we work the schedule in advance.

Do I need a passport?

Yes, GO REMOTE requires a passport for any travel outside the US.

Is the Adventure run on a group activity timetable?

NO! Although there are some planes to catch, the in-country schedule is based on a casual, loose, relaxed timetable and outlook. These Adventures are for your enjoyment and I am there to make sure it is relaxing. Prefer to sleep-in? No problem. Want to dive later? Mosey on down to the dock for the afternoon dive or do it the next day. Every event is optional and since your cost does not cover every activity, meal, etc. you can opt out as you desire, without a cost penalty. If you want a detailed group timetable to follow, - this is not the Adventure for you.

Is an Adventure gear and packing list provided?

A list of recommended items, including clothing, and travel gear tips will be provided.

Is GO REMOTE a reputable travel agency?

GO REMOTE, Inc. is a small Adventure Travel Operator, not an agency, and has been in business for the past sixteen years, operating and scouting a limited number of trips each year. There is no high volume, and the limited size provides potential clients advantages not available from large companies or agencies. Remember, the little guys survive on their reputation. All services and Adventures are fully described, detailed. Written terms are provided and receipts are issued.

What advantages do GO REMOTE Adventures offer over other Adventure companies or over travel on my own?

Convenience. Your escort, Steve, is there to work any problem and handle details that free you of any hassles in planning or schedules - no small concern in REMOTE areas. Experience. Steve is not sending you out, nor is he sending a grad student along like some Big adventure travel companies - He is there - and he has already been there too... Save You Time knowing the little things, avoiding major delays, time traps and hassles that characterize travel in less developed areas, acting on things not found in published guide books and saving you time, including planning time prior to your departure. Uniqueness in cultural contact of most destinations, not commonly known or booked from travel agents or advertising. (Since they are unique, you'll understand his reluctance to give them away in detail - on the net or otherwise) Small groups of fellow Adventurers to share the fun and add to the conversation.
